Kevin Daoust

Guitar and band class

Originally from Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Kevin discovered music and caught the guitar bug at the age of 9. Soon after, he found himself playing in various bands in his hometown.

He received a B.Mus (Bachelor of Music) with Honours from Carleton University in Ottawa in 2003, studying guitar with Wayne Eagles. His time at Carleton allowed him to advance his guitar skills, as well as his knowledge of musical theory, both classic and contemporary.

On stage, Kevin has stood out by being a musical chameleon, being able to adapt to any situation and play any style. This has allowed him to share the stage with several artists such as Paul Demers, Serge Monette, Amanda Marshall, Martin Deschamps, Roch Voisine, Anique Granger, William Deslauriers, Richard Séguin, Véronique DiCaire, just to name a few. Over the years he has also gained experience playing guitar in several cover and tribute bands including Limelight (a tribute to Rush), The Brecker Bros. Tribute Band, The Shatners and The Nimoy Brothers.

As a member of Hey, Wow, Règlement 17 and Blue Feathered Skies, he gained experience in songwriting and studio work as a composer, musician and co-producer. His talents have also travelled far and wide around the globe, having played on dozens of sessions for artists including Nate Silva (Canada), The Bold Parade (Ireland) and Tom Kirby (England).

Wanting to spread his passion for music, Kevin has been involved in several educational projects aimed at Francophone students in Ontario over the past few years. He is often called upon as a workshop facilitator and mentor for initiatives including iStudio, the Quand ça nous chante festival and Les Jeux franco-ontariens. He has also been teaching guitar privately in the Outaouais region since 2021.

Kevin is currently playing several different styles in several bands including Hey, Wow (Alternative Trad Music), Chanté et Kev (Acoustic duo), Zut Alors (Covers) et Sh-Boom (Instrumental Funk).
