Jean Lartigau


With more than 35 years in teaching, including 25 years with the Adagio School of Music (now Adagio branch of the Sonart School of Music), Jean obtained a B.mus with high distinction from the University of Ottawa in 1987, after his studies at the Conservatory.  Student of Pierre Béluse (McGill University), Ian Bernard (NAC Orchestra) and Pete Magadini (Berkeley, California), he also studied composition with Steven Gellman (University of Ottawa) and shared the stage as drummer and percussionist with various artists in the region from 1979 to 2010, after which time he devoted himself almost exclusively to teaching.  Jean taught the Applied Rhythm component of the ear training cursus at the University of Ottawa between 1985 and 1988.  He is currently part of the jazz trio DJAVu.
