From 30 to 2500 registrations in 10 years
In 2009, Vincent Boudreau founded Sonart Musique in Aylmer. During the last 10 years, they have developed many projects, all with the mission to allow everyone to growth through music.
The Gatineau company celebrates 10 years of business today. It is with a team of qualified teachers, creative administrative positions and energetic and reliable counsellors that Sonart annually gathers nearly 125 permanent and seasonal jobs. The common goal is simple: to provide a positive experience internally, to students, parents and the Outaouais community.
A Busy Decade
Following his masters, one at the Conservatoire de musique de Gatineau (with Alain Lamothe – 2002) and the Université de Montréal (with Serge Desgagné – 2005) in percussion, Mr. Boudreau manages his career as a professional freelance musician and his with the group BAM Percussions. This management develops in him his entrepreneurial fibre.
Following a tour with BAM in Europe, Asia and the United States, including some performances with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Boudreau returned to the Outaouais with a clear intention: to start a modern music school, where rock, pop and classical music meet.
After a single year in business, the Sonart Musique School team includes a receptionist and several qualified teachers in 3 branches to meet the demand.
To fill the summer season, Sonart Musique launches Sonart Day Camps by developing partnerships with strong institutions in the region such as Château Cartier, Saint-Alexandre College, the Canada Aviation and Space, the Conservatoire de musique de Gatineau, the Canadian War Museum and the Canadian Museum of History.
The Sonart camps went from 180 children over 2 weeks for a first year of activity to nearly 2,000 children, over 8 weeks and in 5 different camp location a decade later.
Sonart Musique in 2019
There are now two branches where piano, guitar, vocals, violin and drums are offered to more than 500 students annually. Sonart is also 8 concerts per semester.
The service offered by Sonart has expanded with a wide range of group classes for all ages: musical introduction (for ages 3-6), band lessons (ages 9-17), vocal ensembles (for teens and adults) and a class on the history of music.
Over the years, preparation courses for College, University and Conservatoire de musique de Gatineau auditions have been added and are approved by the Ministry of Education.
We can also find the team of Sonart in our community. From the children’s area of the Brewfest of Gatineau to the family-friendly Canada Day, through activities in elementary schools, daycare and workshops at the CARMEN centre, Sonart shares his musical passion beyond its walls.
“Sonart is not only a music school and day camps, but also a management team that is committed to the experience of students and their parents,” says Vincent Boudreau, founder and director of Sonart Music. Beyond musical performance, Sonart is an opening to the musical world, a place where one develops self-confidence and self-esteem through the practice of an instrument. “
For the Future
Sonart Musique is continuing its development in the Outaouais with several upcoming projects. Music unites and joins in its own way, each individual. It is by using this passion that the Sonart Musique team aims to continue to bring their community together by transmitting the benefits and their love for music.
